On Thursday 22nd March a team of 10 dedicated runners headed off to Nobles Park to compete in the 2018 Primary Schools Cross Country Championship. They had put in weeks of training, running round and round the school field in some fairly nasty conditions. I was really impressed with how the children tackled a challenging course, with the majority of the field being made up of year 6 and our team being made of children from year 4 and 5. The event was won by Bunscoill Rhumsaa, which makes it four in a row for them. Oliver Condon from Year 5 and Ethan Watt from Year 4 deserve a special mention. Oliver finished 19th in the boys race with a time of 6 minutes 59 seconds, (only 10 seconds off the top 10). Ethan finished with a time of 7 minutes 45 seconds. Hopefully both can 'kick on' and move up the field next year. Would also like to thank Catriona Watt and Carla Bunce for the time they spent training the children and for all the parents who came down to support, it really makes a difference.
